I got this set on the recommendation of a pro chef youtuber. They were saying how these really change the way you use tongs. I wondered if they could really be that good, but reflected on how I had only paid maybe 2-3 dollars for some tongs in the past. These tongs are indeed much better in every way. They grip firmly and bite into whatever you are handling. Because there is such confidence that you’ve actually grabbed something, this gives you much greater control in the cooking process. Its so much improved that I am not afraid to pull these out when cooking on a non-stick pan. When you have this much control of your actions, the risk of you scratching the pan is minimal.

Good quality tongs. The description says “locking” and the two I received do not have the locking mechanism at the joint of the tongs. Going to keep them but disappointed.

As was noted in another review(s), no tab or device at the hinge that allows one to lock the tong closed. BS! Returning back to Amazon, and will buy one locally that actually has a lock on it. Otherwise, I would have given a 5 star comment.

This is a very nice product! It’s heavy-duty, but not something you’d use to change a truck tire. It works smoothly, does not require an excessive amount of pressure to close, and the tips meet evenly. You can open it one-handedly, and close it the same, but you kind of need something to catch the release tab on to pull it out. Don’t think the latter would come up much though.

I first encountered Edlund when I was required to add them to my kit as a professional cook in a Relais Chateau hotel/restaurant. Without any doubt in my mind they are THE VERY BEST. I wouldn’t use anything but and that goes not just for these 12″ Edlund tongs, but any of their tongs. The feel/tension is perfect for precision handling without stressing your wrist from repeated use. If you need tongs and want what a professional kitchen would use – these are the ones.
